SAE in Quito offers Iyengar Classes

I was just informed that there is a yoga class every Monday night at the South American Explorers Club in Quito (Jorge Washington y Leonidad Plaza) taught by SAE member, Dana. Apparently she teaches in the Iyengar style which is known for great attention to detail, precise alignment, and often uses props. Classes are $3 for members, $4 for non-members and beginners and intermediates are invited. You are asked to bring your yoga mat or a towel. More information here.

Hi there,

I really enjoy your blog. I would really like to move to Ecuador and set up a yoga school. I am quite frightened by the prospect though and would welcome some 'tips and tricks' as to how best to go about setting up the school and linking in with the community. I'm still new at this whole blogging business, and would be really grateful if you would post an e-mail I could send some specific questions to.
Thanks

Kimberly

I am interested in taking yoga classes in Quito. The SAE opportunity on Monday sounds great. What about other days? Also, is there a yoga teacher training course in Ecuador? Tito

There is a really wonderful yoga studio in Quito called YogaStudio Sadhana. (Calle Whymper near Iglesia de la Paz. http://www.yogastudio.com.ec). They offer classes in several styles, Iyengar, Vinyasa, classic, and Kundalini. They also have a donation based Acroyoga practice most Saturdays. The space is new, clean and peaceful -- the community very welcoming and friendly.

hello ray,
ii've found your blog about yoga in ecuador.
i see it hasn't been updated since 2007 approx.. is it still up to date?
the thing is, i just moved to quito. i want to start teaching yoga here in quito. i practice astanga and would like to teach that as well. i don't know how 'known' this style is here in quito. i've seen places that teach iyengar and kundalini but not really astanga.
maybe you have some tips or ideas?
thank you and kind regards

I have a travel agency in Florida and we have a relationship with a Yoga Retreat Center in Peru in the Sacred Valley and have been sending several groups there. One group which just returned is looking for a Yoga Retreat in Ecuador. They will travel with their own instructors but are looking for a peaceful retreat center with facilities for up to 40 persons. I have not found the right place, any suggestions?
